MEET YOUR THERAPIST

JASMINE RIVERA

MS, LPC Associate, NCC

Growing up first gen, I saw how much stigma could surround mental health and asking for help. That stayed with me and became part of why I chose this work and created The Safe State: to make therapy feel more human, approachable, and less like something to be ashamed of.

WORKING TOGETHER

Therapy is a team effort.

You’re in the driver’s seat. And while you’re the expert on your own life, I’m direct and active in the room with you. I’ll ask questions, notice patterns, explain the why behind what we’re seeing, and challenge you when it could be helpful.

The work can get deep, but that doesn’t mean every session has to feel heavy. There’s room for curiosity, honesty, and humor, too. You don’t need to show up with the right words or know exactly where to start. We’ll figure that part out together.

BEYOND THE COUCH

I’m human, too.

I’m a mom and the wife of a veteran and first responder, so I know what it’s like to move between different roles.

When I’m not in the therapist chair, you might find me at an arcade with my family, trying a new ice cream shop, attempting to keep my plants alive, or at home with my two dachshunds: one mini and one who somehow became an “XL mini.”

TRAINING & BACKGROUND

The professional stuff.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Military Families and Culture, along with additional clinical training in trauma and perinatal mental health.

My work is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and tailored to the person in front of me. You can learn more about how I approach therapy and the methods I use on the Therapy page.
